Appraiser’s Credentials
Experience:
Mr. John D. Falk, fine art, antique and estate appraiser has been solely employed in the art and antique industry for 26 years now. He successfully bought and sold fine art and antiques at Renaissance Art and Antiques in La Jolla from 1985 to 2003 and then downtown San Diego, California from 2003 to 2008. Additionally he has exhibited at fine art and antiques shows throughout California, in Phoenix, Santa Fe, New York, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, Miami and London, England and Parma, Italy. In addition to dealing, he has done appraisal work for local banks, trustees, insurance companies, attorneys and museums, as well as for churches, private individuals and charitable and social organizations. He now devotes himself to appraisals full time.
The appraiser regularly attends and participates in local, regional and international auctions and antique shows. Additionally, he attends, as well as conducts, estate sales in La Jolla and San Diego, California. The appraiser has an extensive library of reference books, auction catalogs, current price indices as well as subscriptions to numerous national antique and fine art publications and price databases. He successfully completed the American Society of Appraisers core courses including the Ethics exam, the Principles of Valuation at the University of California, Irvine. He has successfully passed The Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) of The Appraisal Foundation’s, Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) certification for Personal Property. He constantly attends museums, meetings, classes, conferences, lectures and shows on art, antiques and appraisal practice.
